Community Risk Reduction

The Community Risk Reduction Division is dedicated to promoting community safety through fire preparedness, education, code enforcement, and risk reduction efforts.  The Division is overseen by Fire Marshal Victoria Flamini and supported by Deputy Fire Marshal Mike Anderson and two Community Risk Reduction Specialists, Mike Welk (compliance inspections) and Olivia Kuhns (permit technician). The Division is responsible for a range of duties including conducting plan reviews and inspections for development and construction projects to ensure compliance with applicable fire codes and safety standards,  administration of the annual inspection program to ensure building safety for occupants and maintenance of fire code compliance as well as pre-planning efforts for fire department responses, assisting with fire investigations to determine origin and cause of fires occuring in the district,  and participating in public education/community outreach activites. These combined efforts play an essential role in the Division’s mission to assess fire risks throughout the district, reduce hazards, enhance emergency readiness, implement preventative mitigation strategies, and foster a culture of safety throughout the community.
